Aqeel, Abid make it to POF Ranking Tennis final

ISLAMABAD: Aqeel Khan had to gather all his reserve to overpower Muzammil Murtaza in the men’s singles semifinals of the second Chairman POF Board National Ranking Tennis Championships at the POF Tennis Complex, Wah Cantt. Aqeel Khan came out winner against a resilient Muzammil Murtaza 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 to progress into the final where he will face Shahzad Khan who toiled to beat M. Abid in the second semifinal. Asadullah breezed past Saqib Umer but Yousaf Khan had to work hard to beat M. Shoaib in boys under-18 semis. In the boys under-14 event, Hamza Roman moved into the final by beating Hasham Khan.
Results: Men’s singles semis: Aqeel Khan bt Muzammil Murtaza 6-0, 2-6, 6-4; Shahzad Khan bt M. Abid: 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Men’s doubles semis: Aqeel Khan/Shahzad Khan bt Yasir Khan/Abdaal Haider 6-2, 6-4; M. Abid/Usman Rafiq bt Muzamil Murtaza/Mudassir Murtaza 7-6 (5), 2-6, 10-7. Boys singles under-18 semis: Asadullah Khan bt Saqib Umer 6-2, 6-4; Yousaf Khan bt M. Shoaib: 6-4, 7-6.
Boys singles under-14 semis: Sami Zaib bt Farman Shakeel 6-2, 6-4; Hamza Roman bt Hasham Khan 6-3, 6-0.
