Talks for cane crushing date tomorrow

KARACHI: Date of sugarcane crushing season in Sindh is likely to be announced after a high level meeting scheduled on Wednesday.
The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association-Sindh Zone in a statement on Monday said that Anvar Majeed has no role in the operations of collective decisions of the sugar industry in Sindh, as wrongfully alleged by some growers.
It said the government of Sindh had held consultative meetings of the Sindh Sugar Board in which the respective stakeholders, the growers through Sindh Chamber of Agriculture, Sindh Abadgars Board, Sugarcane Growers Association, Sindh Growers Alliance, and the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association-Sindh Zone were present.
As an on-going consultative process, it said, another meeting of this forum has been called on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 to finalise support price of sugarcane and start the crushing season 2017-18.
