Torture on elderly couple: Shahbaz dismisses DSP, SHO, others from service
LAHORE: The elderly couple that was subjected to police torture in Multan met with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who inquired about the details of the incident and ordered dismissal of the area DSP, SHO, sub-inspector and ASI from service.
During the meeting, Shahbaz said the persons who responsible for the tragic incident should be ashamed of the cruel treatment meted out to the poor people. The elderly couple – Muhammad Idrees and Naseem Bibi – did not know their rights because of their poverty and that is why they had been ill-treated, he added.
The chief minister ordered the inquiry committee to submit a report today (Friday) by 8:00 am. He further directed to arrange treatment of Madiha, the daughter of the elderly couple, and said she should be provided best treatment facilities in a reputable hospital of Lahore.
