Nothing to laugh about
November 24, 2017
Video clips on social media go viral in no time. These clips are then used to create memes which are shared among a large number of people. Nowadays a short video is being shared in which a 13-year old boy, Kamlesh, is talking about his addiction. The clip is a part of a documentary made on drug addicts and which was posted on YouTube in December 2016. Social media users are now using the answers of the young boy as a punch line of a joke.
Although the memes on him have gone viral, drug addiction is a serious issue which should not be taken lightly. Even the director of this documentary was disturbed when he came across these videos and memes. People like Kamlesh need help. Making fun of such people is insensitive. If we want to become a civilised nation, we need to change our rigid views. Issues like drug addiction must be dealt with in a serious manner.
