The high court extended till January 10 the pre-arrest protective bails granted to former chairman and vice chairman of Karachi’s Fishermen Cooperative Society in a corruption and misuse of authority references filed by the National Accountability Bureau.
The anti-graft authority was also directed to submit a progress report of the case. Nisar Morai and Sultan Qamar Siddiqui had moved the court to obtain pre-arrest bails in connection with NAB’s inquiry. The counsels submitted that the petitioners had nothing to do with FCS’s corruption and were being falsely implicated in the case.
NAB’s special prosecutor maintained that petitioners are being investigated for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices, illegal appointments and misuse of power while serving as the fishermen society’s chairman and vice chairman.
He said the matter was being investigated and that a reference has been filed against Siddiqui after completion of the investigation.
