The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) on Tuesday celebrated the third anniversary of the charter officially granting it the status of a varsity.
On the occasion SMIU Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammed Ali Shaikh gave a detailed presentation over the university’s historic role since its inception - alma mater of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah – and highlighted the institute’s future plans.
A joint vision of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi SMIU initially established as a school achieved the status of a college and went on to be recognised as a university.
Later, prominent Sindhi singer Dr Zulfikar Hussain also presented a ‘Wai’ of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
Justice (retd) Hamid Ali Mirza, Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah, Justice (retd) Agha Rafiq, Justice (retd) Majida Rizvi, Justice (retd) Ali Hassan Jafri, Justice (retd) Saindino Metlo, NED University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Afzal Ahmed, Dr Abdul Waha of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Robin Davies of British Council Pakistan, Dr Muhammad Memon also attended the event.
