Catch them if you can

November 22, 2017
We have an interesting trend in our country. Our looters, plunderers and dictators, when apprehended for their corruption and misadventures are put behind bars or placed under house arrest, suddenly get sick and get admitted in VIP wards of a hospital. A few politicians, while on their way to courts, are abruptly taken to hospitals where they are diagnosed with serious diseases. They are recommended to go abroad for treatment since medical treatment for VIPs is not at all available in our country. But if you see them on screens outside Pakistan, they look quite healthy and even participate in dancing parties. This proves one thing: one cannot try a VIP over here because somehow he will always manage to wriggle out.
If we are to survive as a nation we have to evolve a system to get hold of every corrupt irrespective of his position, grade and wealth. A lot of cleansing is direly needed to wipe out corruption from each and every nook and corner to put the nation on right track and to ensure real democracy. Right now it seems that the democratic system has stage four cancer. The only reason of our system failure is that we are neither fair and honest with ourselves nor with the state. A wealthy man with lots of connections easily navigates his way through. Had we created a good accountability system, we would not have wasted all these precious 70 years as after every term we are found located at the same square one.
