Second Adventure Marathon Race today

PESHAWAR: The Second Adventure Marathon Race from Pir Sohawa-Islamabad to Khanpur Lake in Haripur district is being held today (Saturday).
Speaking at a meeting on Friday, Secretary Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department, Muhammad Tariq, said the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the Adventure Edge Club are jointly organizing the race. The aim is to provide the youth an opportunity of adventure tourism and engage them in healthy activities.
Besides others, Deputy Secretary Tauseef Khalid,
TCKP Managing Director Mushatq Ahmad Khan and In-charge Marketing and Media Hassina Shaukat also attended the meeting.
The secretary said the registered youth, both male and female, will depart to Pir Sohawa-Islamabad from Tourism Information Centre located at the Peshawar Museum on Saturday at 8am.
The race will start from Pir Sohawa and culminate at Khanpur Lake after covering 23 kilometer distance via Tilhar, Tonia and Pomala villages, Kerwali Top and Najabpur area.
There will be 60 teams of the youth to compete in the marathon race that includes 13 kilometer trekking, nine kilometer cycling and a kilometer rafting.
In-charge Marketing and Media Hassina Shaukat said that organising such events were aimed at reviving the tourist spots in the province and providing opportunity to the youth to exploit and explore their talent in the best possible way.
She said these amazing and alluring adventures would be hosted by an experienced and enthusiastic staff of Adventurer Edge Club and TCKP on an exceptional location combined with a fantastic scenic view.
Deputy Secretary Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department, Tauseef Khalid, will be chief guest at the concluding ceremony.
