Two injured in rivalry attack

OKARA: A trader was injured in a rivalry attack here on Thursday. There was a rivalry going on regarding litigation between a trader Malik Amjad of Tariq Colony and Nazir.
On Thursday morning, Amjad was going to his shop when Nazir and his accomplices stopped him at gunpoint at Chowk Depalpur. They opened fire and severely injured him. In retaliation, Amjad’s friend Faisal and others injured Nazir by hitting him with a chopper. Both the injured rivals were referred to Lahore from DHQ hospital. A case has been registered.
APCA NEWLY-ELECTED BODY SWORN IN: The elected office bearers of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) Unit Election in Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Department Okara, had sworn in on Thursday. Abdul Majeed Saqib was elected as chief chair person, Rai Liaquat as chairman, Ch M Saleem as president, Anwarul Haq as senior vice president, Nasreen Liaquat as vice president, Azam Ali Shah as deputy vice president, Malik Abdullah Irshad as general secretary, Azhar Saeed, Sheikh Imdad Ali as joint secretary, M Asif as press secretary and M Abbas as finance secretary. APCA district president Gohar Abbas Zaidi took oath from the newly-elected office bearers. In their speeches, the newly-elected office bearers said they would fulfill their responsibilities for the service of their fellow employees and raise voice at every forum for their rights and privileges.
Two held: Sadr police arrested two accused and recovered 3,000 liquor bottles from them here on Thursday.
On a tip-off, the police intercepted a truck at City Bypass and recovered 3,000 bottles of liquor from it. The police also arrested accused Zahid and Nisar Ahmad of Lahore.
