Orientation session arranged for UET students

PESHAWAR: The orientation day for the new students of the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, was observed on Monday with an impressive ceremony at the main lawn of the institution.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Higher Education, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, was the chief guest. He said the provincial government was committed to developing the nation by promoting higher education and modern research in higher education institutions.

Naeem Khan, Secretary Industries and Energy, said the UET Peshawar had produced eminent people who were serving the country. He urged the students to work hard with dedication to achieve their career goals. 

Vice-Chancellor of UET Peshawar Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain said the UET Peshawar was set to achieve its goals in terms of moving to the outcome based education according to the Pakistan Engineering Council. He said the UET Peshawar had successfully got the accreditation of Kohat and Mardan campuses which had saved the future of students.

With increasing number of students and high demand of engineering education, the UET has got the approval of PC-1 of establishing another campus in Upper Dir, with this, he said,  the number of campuses would reach to five in the province.   

Pro Vice-Chancellor/Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof Dr Noor Muhammad briefed the newcomers on semester system and disciplinary rules and regulations.  Director Admissions Dr Misbahullah said out of 17,000 candidates who appeared in the Education Testing and Evaluation Agency test , 700 were selected on merit.
