All institutions should work within their ambit: ANP
NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain has urged all the institutions to work in their constitutional ambits and avoid collision among states organs.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said that collision among the state institutions was not in anybody’s favour and harmful for the country.
He said that judiciary and parliament should respect each other and exercise their power within the limits defined in the Constitution as it was good for democracy and the country.
The ANP leader said that the country cannot afford any confrontation among its institutions.
The challenges both at the internal and external levels required the politicians and state institutions to work together and avoid confrontation.
He said that blame-game were not good signs and feared that the way the events were unfolding the government may not complete its tenure.
He maintained that the ground was being prepared for imposition of another martial law, adding formation of a technocrats or a national government was also possible if the state institutions continue to remain on collision course. “Any form of these aforementioned governments is not in favour of anybody,” he added.
He said the country suffered colossal damage due to the martial laws imposed by former military dictators General Ziaul Haq and General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, which still haunt the country.
He said the challenges created by the wrong policies of the two former military dictators could only be solved through unity among all the stakeholders.
He said US President Donald Trump’s speech had increased the concerns of Pakistan and the government should respond carefully to the accusations he had levelled against it.
He said that Pakistan was a sovereign country and should not be dictated by anyone. He called for review of country’s foreign policy and to improve relations with neighbouring countries.
He also ciriticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its failure to tackle and contain the spread of dengue fever in the province. He said that dengue was spreading fast in Nowshera, the hometown of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, and asked the government to take the issue seriously.
On the occasion, ANP-Wali Nowshera chapter was merged into ANP.
Mian Iftikhar rejected the reports that ANP-Wali Sindh chapter had refused merger with the party, saying they were in constant contact with the members of the group and they would announce merger with the nationalist party. He said that unification of ANP was a huge achievement.
