Swat Expressway victims being compensated
PESHAWAR: The Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority (PKHA) said here Tuesday that the affectees of the provincial government’s flagship project of Swat Expressway were being paid compensation for their land and crops.
The Authority responded to a news item appearing in a section of the press on August 31 regarding assessment of land coming in the Right of Way (RoW) as per market value and non-payment of land compensation to the affected landowners after a lapse of one year and maintained that it was not based on facts.
The PKHA spokesperson through a statement clarified that PKHA has acquired land for the Swat Expressway under section 4,6,11 and 17 of the Land Acquisition Act 1894.
The statement said that land compensation along with resettlement cost for built up property and standing corps, duly assessed by the concerned authorities has been paid to the respective district collectors in Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan.
It said the Revenue Department of the respective district was in the process of further disbursement among the affected landowners after fulfillment of legal formalities and ownership verification.
