LAHORE :The passing out ceremony of 1,311 male and female rescuers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab was held at Emergency Services Academy here on Thursday. Provincial Minister for Counter-Terrorism Department Lt Col (R) Sardar Muhammad Ayub Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department Secretary Ahmad Hanif Aurakzai and Emergency Rescue Service Director General Dr Asad Ali Khan were the guests of honour. At least 541 rescuers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 770 from Punjab have completed their professional training organised at the Emergency Services Academy.
Lt Col (R) Sardar Muhammad Ayub said that rescuers were the brave sons of the soil who put their lives in danger to save the lives of others. He said that he had witnessed excellent professionalism exhibited by rescuers during accidents, floods and other disasters. He praised the Punjab Emergency Service DG and his team for devotion and continuous struggle towards ensuring a safer Pakistan.
KP Emergency Rescue Service Director General Dr Asad Ali Khan said Punjab was truly playing the role of elder brother for other provinces, as owing to the provision of free of cost emergency management training and technical assistance by Punjab, now the rescue service had expanded to 16 districts in KP.
The Punjab Emergency Service DG congratulated the rescuers on completion of their professional emergency management training. He said that the Service had taken two initiatives this year, Patient Transfer Service and Motorbike Ambulance Service, which would be operational in all divisions of Punjab by end of the current year.
