Hot, humid weather expected in most areas

LAHORE: Scattered rain was reported in the provincial capital on Sunday while Met Office predicted scattered rain with similar weather conditions during the next 24 hours.

Met officials said marked seasonal low lay over north Balochistan while weak monsoon currents are penetrating central and upper parts of the country. Met officials said a westerly wave was affecting Kashmir and adjoining areas.

They predicted that mainly hot and humid weather was expected in most parts of the country while rain-thunderstorm was expected at a few places in DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, DI Khan, Kalat divisions, FATA and Kashmir.

On Sunday, rain-thunderstorm occurred at a few places in Quetta, Gujranwala, Lahore and Gilgit-Baltistan while weather remained hot and humid elsewhere in the country. Rainfall was recorded in several cities, including Barkhan, Lahore (Airport 07mm, PBO 04mm), Gujranwala (05mm), Bahawalpur (Airport 03 mm) and Bagrote (01mm).

Sunday’s highest temperature was recorded at Sibbi where mercury reached 44°C while in Lahore it was 35°C, minimum was 22°C and humidity was 47 percent.
