Taking notice of reports regarding unchecked hikes in school fees, the provincial education minister on Friday issued a statement assuring concerned parents that their grievances would be addressed properly and at the earliest.

As per the statement, a three-member committee that would work under the director general for private institutions has been formed for the purpose and it would be submitting a report on the matter within a week’s time.

Through the communiqué, Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar assured worried parents that no institute or individual was above the law.

He urged the aggrieved parents to submit complaints in black and white so that the provincial education department could initiate action against the institutions guilty of violating the set rules.

“The rules and regulations are in place for a reason and all private educational institutions are bound to follow our guidelines,” said the minister.

Dahar added that letters had been sent to a few private schools in this regard and a meeting with the private schools’ association would be convened after Eidul Azha to resolve the matter once and for all.

The minister assured the aggrieved parents that they would also be taken on board in the process and that their interests would be safeguarded as a priority. Furthermore, said Dahar, the provincial assembly’s standing committee on education would also be meeting soon to discuss this and other issues afflicting Sindh’s education sector.
