LAHORE
A five-day 29th Lahore International Book Fair with the theme ‘Books for Peace-Education for All’ kicked off at Expo Centre here on Thursday.
A large number of people visited the book fair on the opening day and visited stalls set up by more than 200 local and foreign publishers and showed keen interest in the books on variety of topics.
The book fair, organised by the Lahore International Book Fair (LIBF) Trust, also features sections for children where books on children literature are being offered at discounted prices.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan inaugurated the book fair. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the government was following a policy of creating awareness among the students about reading.
He said it was the vision of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif that young generation should be engaged in positive activities so that it could play its active role in national development. The book fair will continue from 10:30 am to 10:00 pm on daily basis till Feb 9.
