Aitzaz terms LHC incident unfortunate
RAWALPINDI: Senior lawyer and Pakistan People’s Party’s central leader Aitzaz Ahsan termed the incident unfortunate as the lawyers went berserk at the Lahore High Court (LHC) and resorted to violence against the LHC Multan Bench’s order to arrest LHCBA Multan Bench president for committing alleged contempt of court.
Aitzaz Ahsan said that leaders of the lawyer associations should have stopped the protest by stepping forward, adding that incidents of tortureemerged when the struggle is honest. The Punjab government wanted to keep the judiciary under pressure, he claimed, reported a private news channel on Monday.
Justice (R) Shaiq Usmani said that he felt disappointed at the behaviour of lawyers and reaction after verdict against lawyers. Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) should consider the matter in an appropriate manner, he said.
