Qazafi Gymkhana beat New United despite Owais’ 81

KARACHI: Mohammad Owais’ fine 81 went in vain as New United Gymkhana suffered a seven-run defeat at the hands of Qazafi Gymkhana in the 1st Mohammad Siddique Memorial League Cricket tournament here at the New United Gymkhana Ground on Sunday.
The right-handed Owais scored 81 off 79 balls with the aid of five boundaries and Mohammad Farhan struck solid 60 off 70 balls that took New United Gymkhana to 209-7 in the stipulated 30 overs while chasing 216.
Mohammad Aman, off-spinner, claimed 2-29 while Abdul Basit, the medium-pacer, captured 2-44. Earlier, Qazafi Gymkhana piled up 216-9 with Naved Annum scoring 74 off 34 balls and Aaqil Ansari making 46 off 33 balls. Mohammad Sharafat grabbed 3-25.
