This refers to the letter, ‘Education in KP’ (Aug 15), by Mannan Samad. The writer has rightly suggested that instead of giving warnings to underperforming government schools, proper educational reforms should be introduced to improve the standard of education across all government schools. In addition, all schools should be given realistic and smart targets to achieve in a certain time period so that these schools can improve. Also, the need of the hour is to form a proper committee, which must motivate those parents who have not enrolled their children in schools.
If schools are closed, children – mostly girls – will be robbed of the chance of getting education. Another challenge for these children would be that they will need extra efforts and motivation to go to nearby schools, if the schools they go to are closed. The education department must look into the matter and find a solution to deal with the problem.
