Mubarak Village, in Karachi, is located along the shore of the Arabian Sea. In 2009, the former chief minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah had announced to start development work in the area. After the announcement, the provincial government started the construction work. But suddenly the work stopped. Nearly 50 percent development work had taken place to provide electricity and sewerage facilities to half of the colony population. However, the rest of the area is still facing key civic problems because of the abrupt cancellation of work. While the chief minister had also announced to provide the lease documents of houses to fishermen, only 10 percent of the residents received the official papers.
Another project was to expand the Mubarak Village dam and construct a harbour. Unfortunately, the project hasn’t seen the light of the day. Similarly, a maternity home was built in the village and today the medical facility is still without staff. The government must resume the construction work and complete all pending projects.
