He was addressing different functions as part of the Independence Day celebrations on Monday, says an official statement.
The chief minister also inaugurated the Jinnah Degree College and Sports Stadium in Pabbi, and district council hall in Nowshera.
The main event was organised by the Peshawar district government for the hoisting of the national flag at the lawns of the Civil Secretariat.
Deputy Speaker Provincial Assembly Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak, MPAs Mian Khaleeq-ur-Rehman, Arbab Jehandad Khan, Shaukat Yousafzai, Peshawar District Nazim Muhammad Asim, Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, Inspector General of Police Salahuddin Mehsud and others were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister underlined the need for understanding the philosophy behind the creation of Pakistan.
He added that the 70 years history of the country was replete with loot and plunder.
Pervez Khattak said that now the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government was following the vision of Imran Khan and working to eliminate corruption and depoliticise the police, revenue and other institutions.
He stated that the youth voted the PTI to power for changing the system.
The chief minister advised the local elected representatives to work for the development and prosperity of their respective areas, adding that they should raise the awareness level of people against corruption.
He also advised them to avoid the misuse of resources and warned that corrupt people would not get any space in the PTI.
Earlier, he performed the flag-hoisting in the Civil Secretariat and congratulated the people of Pakistan in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular on the Independence Day.
