Robbers take away cash, valuables

LAHORE :Robbers on Sunday deprived citizens of their valuables and vehicles worth millions of rupees on Sunday.

Robbers looted valuables worth Rs 4 lakh from the family of one Amjad Ali in the Shahdara Town area, Rs 5 lakh and a cell phone from one Ishfaq in Kahna, valuables worth Rs 3 lakh from the family of one Khalid in Chung, Rs 2 lakh from one Aslam in Bhatti Gate, valuables worth Rs 570,000 from the family of one Jamil in Mughalpura, valuables worth Rs 4 lakh from the family of one Imran in Sanda, Rs 2 lakh and a cell phone from one Ramazan in Hunjarwal, Rs 180,000 from one Abid in Sattukatla and valuables worth Rs 8 lakh from the family of one Imtiaz in the North Cantt area. Cars were lifted from the areas of Samanabad and North Cantt and bikes were stolen from the areas of Mughalpura, Lorri Adda and North Cantt.

Security: Security in the provincial metropolis was put on high alert on Sunday to thwart any untoward incident. Additional SPs reviewed the security arrangements and visited churches and sensitive buildings in their respective areas, following the directions of the CCPO. The CCPO appealed to the citizens to extend their cooperation to police and immediately inform at Rescue 15 or 8330’ about any suspicious activity around them.

Three arrested: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested 16 criminals, including three proclaimed offenders (POs).

PHP teams rounded up 16 accused and seized 21 litre liquor, 635 gram charas, one rifle, one gun and 20 bullets from their possession. The officials of PHP post of Marlay Chowk, Pakpattan district, arrested three persons and seized 359 bottles of liquor from their possession.

Meanwhile, PHP teams also extended help to 1,349 travellers. 

suicide: A 50-year-old man committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the Manga Mandi area on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Sadiq. Police said that poor domestic conditions forced him to end his life. Police have handed over the body to the heirs after completing legal formalities. 

warned: A bike rally was taken out in the provincial metropolis on Sunday to raise awareness about the disadvantages of wheelie-doing. The rally started from Fawara Chowk Main Boulevard, Gulberg and culminated at Center Point. Lahore CTO led the bike rally.

The CTO warned that strict legal action would be taken against wheelie-doers and pressure horn on the eve of Independence Day. He directed the patrolling officers to keep vigil on wheelie-doers and take immediate action against them.
