MANSEHRA: The Hazara University, with the support of Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) would provide facilities to tourists at picnic points and archaeological sites in the district.
“We have been developing archaeological sites and tourist attractions through the financial assistance of World Bank’s Economic Revitalisation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata Programme,” stated Tariq Khan, an official of TCKP while addressing a ceremony at the campus on Saturday.
The corporation provided modern benches for museum and gardens at the main campus of the university and the same would be installed at Ashoka rocks, Shiva Lingam Temple in Gandian and the archaeological sites in Gullibagh.
Tariq said that in Mansehra district, the corporation was exploring and developing such tourist attractions, which were still far off the eyes of tourists.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Idrees welcomed the initiatives taken by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for launching such a great programme, which covers both tourism and preservation of archaeological sites in the province, particularly in the district.
“We have showcased ancient artefacts at our museum, which attracted national and international archaeologists here and this piece of history is an asset to our university,” said Dr Idrees.
The ceremony was also attended by the faculty of archaeology and tourism departments, chief proctor and other officers of the university.
