Enemy wants chaos, instability: Shahbaz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said present circumstances required emergency measures as the enemy was trying to create instability in the country and, therefore, the institutions and agencies concerned should perform their duties with devotion and dedication.
Shahbaz described the Outfall Road blast as very tragic incident and said a comprehensive report covering all aspects should be presented at the earliest. He was chairing a meeting to review law and order situation in the province during which a preliminary report on the Outfall Road blast was also presented.
The chief minister asked the officials present in the meeting why the truck stand had not been shifted to some other place from Saggian despite clear instructions.
He ordered immediate arrest of the people responsible for the blast and said best treatment facilities should be continuously provided to the injured.
Shahbaz expressed deep sense of sorrow over the human loss and extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the heirs.
He ordered effective implementation of security plan to protect the life and property of citizens, saying the entry and exit points of the province should be strictly monitored, ensuring proper checking of the vehicles coming to Punjab and Lahore.
Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah, Ayub Ghadi and Jehangir Khanzada, Hamza Shahbaz MNA, additional chief Secretary, IGP and others officials attended the meeting.
Separately, the chief minister in a statement said Pakistan was passing through a critical phase of its history and, therefore, the importance of national unity had manifold.
He said the enemy wanted to create chaos and instability in the country because Pakistan had made tremendous development in different sectors during the last four years.
CPEC was resulting in unparalleled development in Pakistan, which had rattled the enemies, he said, adding that the nation was fully united and would foil all nefarious designs.
“In the present day circumstances, we should only work for Pakistan by setting aside personal interests, because it is our country and we shall jointly work to move about Pakistan.”
He said the claimants of new Pakistan had given nothing to the country except sit-ins and lockdowns and tried to divide the nation. “These elements have promoted the politics of allegations and indecency,” Shahbaz added.
He said the sit-in group obstructed the development process, adding that the politics of change-mongers was limited to levelling allegations.
“These elements were defeated in the previous elections and shall face the same fate in the next general polls too,” he noted.
