INP adds: A four-member delegation of the Pakistan Blind Association (National), led by its general secretary Qari Saad Noor, called on Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh for Social Welfare Shamim Mumtaz on Tuesday.
Over the course of the meeting, the adviser said the Sindh government was actively working to redress the problems being faced by disabled people in the province. She spoke of the government’s recent step of enhancing the employment quota for the disabled by five percent and said efforts were afoot to ensure strict implementation of the new quota.
Mumtaz told the delegation that she had held a number of meetings with private sector officials regarding respectful employment opportunities for the disabled. She said letters had been written to heads of all departments and assured the delegation that the quota would be implemented in letter and spirit.
