Officers of City District Government, Lahore DIG Operations and other senior police officers visited the route of procession of Nawaz Sharif on Saturday to review security arrangements.

Lahore police will deploy 10,000 police officials and traffic wardens to provide security to people and maintain flow of traffic during the visit of Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.

According to the plan, Nawaz Sharif's procession will start from Babu Sabu. It will reach Data Darbar after passing through Bund Road, Saggian Bridge and Azadi Chowk Flyover. Reception at six points will be given to the procession.

Ambulances will also escort the procession. Medical camps will also be set along the route. A helipad will also be established. Sippers will be deployed on nearby rooftops. Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and beat officers will remain on patrolling in nearby areas to respond in case of any untoward incident.

The route will be checked by experts of Special Branch and Bomb Disposal Squad. It will also be cleared by sniffer dogs. All the shops and markets on the way of the route will be closed down.

Search operations will also be conducted in the area to discourage stay of any suspicious person. CCTV cameras will also be installed to review the arrangements. Police have also requested the authorities concerned for aerial surveillance of the route.

As far as the traffic plan is concerned, 2, 000 wardens under supervision of 15 DSPs, four SPs and the chief traffic officer will maintain flow of traffic. Traffic leading to the route will be diverted after setting diversions.

DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said that they would utilise all the available resources to secure lives and properties of the citizens. He requested the public to call 15 to report any suspicious person or activity.
