NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would complete its constitutional term.

Speaking at separate public meetings here, he said Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had claimed to topple the PTI-led government within three months soon after the party formed the government in the province. “Four years have passed since the PTI formed government in the province but they could not topple the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he added.

He said that media was spreading rumors of collapse of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and fueling speculations about the future of the PTI-led provincial government.

He added that media was eager to see his government toppled, adding some people in media could not digest the PTI-led government in the province.

He said that the PTI had the required number and claimed that some lawmakers of the opposition parties were supporting the provincial government. “Half of the members of opposition benches are supporting me. Lawmakers would defect to PTI if the opposition parties made the mistake of bringing any no-confidence motion against me in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly,” he claimed.

He said that the provincial government enjoyed the support of majority of the lawmakers in the assembly. He rejected the reports about any disagreement with its coalition partner Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), saying the party was a reliable partner and would not part ways with the PTI. He hoped that the PTI would win the general elections and again form government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pervez Khattak also rejected the corruption allegations against him and asked the accusers to produced proofs of his corruption instead of running malicious campaigns against him in the media. He said that his government did not lease out the chromite and other minerals mines.
