Pakistan slip to defeat against Qatar in Asian Volleyball
KARACHI: Pakistan on Sunday lost to Qatar 2-3 in 9th to 12th place semi-finals of the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship being held in Surabaya, Indonesia.
After losing the first set 19-25, Pakistani players made a remarkable comeback when they lifted the next two sets 25-20 and 25-17 to take 2-1 lead. However Qatar, who have foreign players in their side, brought discipline in their ranks as they went on to win the remaining two sets 25-18 and 15-12 to seal a well-deserved win. Pakistan will now face Thailand on Monday (today) for the 11th place match.
Pakistan could not maintain the performance they had shown in the last edition when they finished tenth. Thailand, meanwhile, lost to Vietnam 2-3 in the other match of the 9th to 12th place semi-finals.It is now expected that Pakistan will again put Thailand in trouble on Monday (today).
