The deputy inspector general (DIG) of Karachi’s traffic force, Asif Aijaz Shaikh, has identified 113 points for staffers to perform duties in different districts, including Korangi, East, Malir, Central, barring them from working anywhere else in the city.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Aijaz Hashmi of the traffic police attended a meeting held at the Brigade Office in Malir Halt on Wednesday. The meeting, chaired by Brigadier Shahid Javed of the Sindh Rangers, reviewed the law and order situation in the city following the recent killings of law enforcers, especially traffic policemen.

SP Hashmi said the meeting was attended by the DIG of East Range, the SSPs of Malir and Korangi, the SP of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, the traffic DSP of Malir, the traffic DSP of the airport area and all the wing commanders of the Rangers.

He said the traffic DIG remained in contact with all the traffic SSPs and had directed the staffers to use bullet-proof jackets.

It was decided that during patrolling, Rangers and police should keep an eye on traffic police for their safety. The participants were also informed that the traffic police had their own website, which was monitored by the DIG, the Sindh police chief, the home minister and the chief minister.
