A member of a car-lifting gang was shot dead while his two accomplices escaped in injured condition following an encounter with the Mobina Town police early on Wednesday morning.
The police identified the man as 30-year-old Khalid, and that he belonged from Dadu. SHO Mobina Town police station, Mairaj Anwar, said the three robbers were looting people off their valuables in Scout Colony, Metroville, when an on-patrol mobile of the police reached the scene.
SHO Anwar claimed the robbers started firing at the police mobile; one of them got killed after the police retaliated. However, injured in the crossfire, the other two robbers managed to escape. The SHO added that Khalid was nominated in a number of car-lifting cases registered with different police stations of the city. He was a declared absconder.
