Women campus of varsity inaugurated

MINGORA: The newly-established Woman Campus of the University of Swat was formally inaugurated here Tuesday.

Advisor to Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial president Amir Muqam inaugurated the Women Campus at a ceremony.

Vice-Chancellor of University of Swat Mehboobur Rahman, other officials and faculty members and officials of Higher Education Commission were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Amir Muqam said the

provision of primary and higher education to children, particularly women was the priority of the federal government.

He said establishing a separate university for female students of Swat was the longstanding demand of the parents and local people.

“The Higher Education Commission with the

financial support of the federal government has set up a separate educational

institution for the female children of the people of Swat,” he added.

Amir Muqam said that initially the federal government had provided Rs900 million funds for the Women Campus of the University of Swat.

He vowed to get approved more funds from the federal government for the Women Campus, which, he said, would prove a milestone in lifting the female education in the area.

He said that initially four year bachelor of Zoology and Botany subjects’ classes would be started and gradually other disciplines would be launched at the campus.
