Thunderstorm, rain likely

LAHORE: Hot and humid weather was observed in the provincial capital here Tuesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

Met officials said seasonal low lies over North Balochistan while monsoon currents are penetrating upper and central parts of country. They added that a westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next few days.

Met officials predicted that mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country while rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mirpurkhas divisions, Islamabad, Fata and Kashmir.

On Tuesday, rain-thunderstorm occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Hazara divisions and Kashmir while at isolated places in Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad divisions, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan. Weather remained hot and humid in other parts of the country.

Rainfall was recorded in several cities, including Kamra, Mangla, Gujrat, Chakwal, Sialkot, Jhelum, Islamabad, Kakul, Balakot, Saidu Sharif, Chhor, Nagarparker, Muzaffarabad, Kotli and Astore.

Tuesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Nokkundi where mercury reached 44°C while in Lahore, it was 34°C, minimum was 27.5°C and humidity level in the morning was 56 percent.
