Denmark’s envoy proposes

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will have to improve security environment, business climate, maintaining political stability, placing regulatory regime and ensuring independent judiciary for boosting trade, investment and joint ventures for attracting billions of dollars into various sectors of the economy, Denmark’s Ambassador in Pakistan Ole Thonke said on Monday.

The outgoing Ambassador of Royal Danish Embassy in Pakistan, Ole Thonke, who will be completing over one year term here in Islamabad in next couple of weeks, said that the bilateral trade between the two countries currently stood at around $550 million mainly in favour of Denmark which could go up to over $1 billion on annual basis during next five years period.

He also said that Pakistan would have to fix its power outages as it would give boost to its exports potential and achieving higher growth on sustained basis.

“Danish company FLS is all set for providing environment friendly state of the art cement plants equipments worth $200 million to Power Cement Plant located in Sindh. They are also negotiating couple of cement plants located in KP and Punjab having worth of $200 million each and these deals are in the pipeline which will be finalised soon,” the Danish Ambassador Ole Thonke said in an exclusive interview with The News at his residence here on Monday afternoon.

He said that Pakistanis Diaspora of around 20,000 to 25,000 was living in Denmark and he was pursuing them to play their proactive role for boosting trade and economic ties between the two countries.
