Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the first time has issued the General Waiting List (GWL) and uploaded the same on its official website in order to ensure transparent allotment of official residences to the eligible employees.

The CDA employees, who have not been allotted residences for years, would start getting the facility from Tuesday (today), a CDA spokesman said. The GWL contains over 2,650 names in five categories.

However, the issuance of notices to CDA employees who have been allotted plots in Islamabad, to voluntarily vacate their official accommodation, has created unrest amongst them. "The number of such employees is 125 not 500 as being reported by media," the spokesman said.

In the past also, a senior official who was on deputation in the civic body had made the similar attempt but the employees moved the court against him. It may be pointed out here that the other federal government employees who were allotted plots by CDA or the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) have been given facility of the government accommodation.

The CDA spokesman said that there was no proposal under consideration to deduct house rent from salaries of employees or end facility of double salary to those who are performing emergency duty in CDA Hospital.

Meanwhile, the CDA administration has also started receiving applications for payment of house building and motorcycle advance. A committee constituted under directives of the CDA board would scrutinise these applications.

The CDA management has also prepared a summary for the Cabinet division for regularisation of employees working on daily wages, contract and must roll basis. Regarding issuance of show cause notices to employees who got up-gradation during the PPP tenure, the CDA official said any action would be taken after giving opportunity of personal hearing to them.

The civic body has released Rs 17.8 million to bear expenses on performance Hajj by 47 employees who were selected through balloting. "The management is creating no hurdle in approving leaves to these employees as Haj dues to them have already been paid," the official said.
