LAHORE: “Enough is enough, killings, bloodshed, the country is bleeding, we are fed up with carrying bodies of our innocent citizens. We need to come out of the debate of “good and bad Taliban”. Terrorists must be crushed. We don’t need condemnation by political bigwigs, ruling elite and establishment; we need comprehensive operation against Taliban and their facilitators, civil society and masses were outraged over suicide attack in metropolitan city of the Punjab. People were in immense shock and grief. They said that solid steps should be taken to eliminate sleeper cells of terrorists across the country.

Tanvir Jahan, a social activist, said Pakistan needs a clear policy to counter terrorism. Terrorist organisations have been working in an organised form. There is a need to tighten noose around them. If one organisation is banned, it works and gets registered with another name. State should end this policy for the public welfare.

Pakistan was lacking a clear counter-terrorism policy, said Abdullah Malik, a human rights activist. National Action Plan (NAP) was not implemented according to its real spirit. Its 20 points are yet to enforced or implemented, he said. According to him, Pakistan is fighting war against terrorism, but the government has no clear policy on terrorism. He alleged that the ministers seemed busy in saving prime minister for last nine months. An eyewitness said our office’s glasses and windows were shattered and we were jolted. As I glanced, I saw a boy running with bleeding face. He did not know where to go. It was a responsibility of the government to protect the lives of the people. We are not safe in offices, on roads, in houses and even we are not safe in worship places as well, he said.
