Scattered rain, humidity predicted

LAHORE: Humid weather with scattered rain was observed in the city here Wednesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions during the next 24 hours.

Met officials said seasonal low lies over north Balochistan while strong monsoon currents are penetrating in southern parts of the country during next 24 hours and likely to weaken thereafter. They added that moderate monsoon currents are penetrating in upper parts of the country during next 24-36 hours and likely to strengthen in next 48 hours while a shallow westerly wave is still affecting northern parts of the country and likely to persist during next two to three days.

Met officials predicted that rain-thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) is expected at scattered places in Sindh, eastern Balochistan (Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi, Naseerabad divisions) and South Punjab (Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan divisions).

They predicted that rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Faisalabad divisions), Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Sialkot (Cantt 80mm, A/P 18mm), Khanpur (46mm), Lahore (45mm), Sahiwal (40mm), Toba Tek Singh (37mm), Jhelum (26mm), Mangla (17mm), Bahawalpur (16mm), Kot Addu (12mm), Bhakkar and Rahimyar Khan (08mm), Multan (07mm), Mianwali (05mm), Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin (04mm), Sargodha (03mm), Jhang (02mm), Gujranwala and Murree (01mm), Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan (Trace), Balakot (35mm), Kakul (01mm), Larkana (17mm), Thatta (16mm), Badin (12mm), Mithi (11mm), Sukkur (10mm), Karachi (Gulshan-e-Hadeed 09mm, Landhi 05mm, PAF Faisal, A/P 02mm, Saddar 01mm), Shaheed Benazirabad and Mohen-jo-Daro (07mm), Chhor (05mm), Sakrand (04mm), Padidan (03mm), Jacobabad and Rohri (02mm), Dadu, Mirpurkhas and Tandojam (01mm), Sibbi (05mm), Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot (04mm), Kotli (02mm), Garhi Dupatta (01mm), Astore (03mm) and Bagrote (01mm). Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Turbat where mercury reached 46°C while in Lahore it was 36°C, minimum was 24.5°C and humidity level was 52 percent.
