Adil, Abdullah, Rayyan, Hasheesh in semis

KARACHI: Adil Khan, Abdullah Khan, Rayyan Jawad, and Hasheesh Kumar reached the semi-finals of 2nd Nemoz ATF 14 & under Super Series Tennis Championship at DHA Creek Club on Monday.

In the quarter-finals, Adil beat M Farooq 6-0, 6-0; Abdullah defeated Ammar Ismail 6-1, 6-1; Rayyan won against Hamid Israr Gul 6-2, 6-3; and Hasheesh overpowered Ibrahim Khan 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-0.

Adil will play against Abdullah and Rayyan is up against Hasheesh in the semi-finals.  In the doubles quarter-finals, the pair of Hamid Israr and Hasheesh Kumar beat the duo of Saim Danish and Ehtisham Yahya 6-3, 6-4; the pair of Asim Gul and Ammar Ismail overpowered the duo of Huzaifa Khan and Talha Khan 6-7(4), 6-4, 10-4; and the pairs of Adil and Ibrahim and Rayyan Jawad and Abdullah Khan got bye.

Adil and Ibrahim will play against Hamid and Hasheesh, while Rayyan and Abdullah will be up against the duo of Asim and Ammar in the semi-finals. Adelya Isabekova from Kyrgyzstan, who was the only foreign player in the girls’ event, did not turn up. Tng En Lydia Liong and Dania Melati Fahrol Rodzi from Malaysia and Abhilasha Bista from Nepal had withdrawn from the event.

Thus, only four local girls are playing the girls’ event on round robin basis. No foreign girl participated in the first edition of this championship as well. Kim Dainihee from Korea, Tng En Lydia Liong and Dania Melati Fahrol Rodzi from Malaysia entered their names for the event but withdrew later.
