Empowering women

By our correspondents

Despite the tall claims made by the government and a few NGOs, the condition of women in Pakistan remains deplorable. The outdated traditions are still prevalent in the country. Although the number of working women has increased, women are still harassed at workplaces. For a single woman, living in the country is a Herculean task. She faces a large number of challenges on a daily basis.

The situation is the worst in rural areas of the country. In fact, windows living in rural areas lead an extremely difficult life. It is the responsibility of the government to uplift the status of women in society. For women living in rural areas, the government should introduce short courses so that they can learn a few skills and earn a living. Those women who have no place to live should be brought to a government-backed rehabilitation centre. Together we can help the women who are living a miserable life.
