A mason lost his life and three other persons were injured when a warehouse’s under-construction wall collapsed in the Bagh-e-Korangi area on Saturday.
SHO Awami Colony Ghulam Rasool Arbab said the wall fell on the four men, who were all masons by profession.
He said they were sitting along the warehouse while looking for livelihood.
As soon as rescue teams reached the scene, the victims were taken out from the rubble of the collapsed wall, he said, adding that they were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
But doctors pronounced 45-year-old Abdul Lateef dead on arrival while the others were still under treatment, the SHO said.
The injured were identified as Bakht Rehman, Zohaib and Haneef, he added. SHO Arbab said police had also taken two security guards of the warehouse into custody as they were forcibly stopping the police team from carrying out an inspection of the warehouse. He said the police was investigating the case and trying to ascertain the cause of collapse.
