Tennis players, boxers to miss Youth Games
KARACHI: A small contingent of Pakistan, carrying a swimmer and three officials, will leave for Nassau, The Bahamas, via United States, on Saturday (today) to feature in the Commonwealth Youth Games after tennis players and boxers were denied US transit visas.
Swimmer Bismah Khan along with officials Asif Orakzai, Saba Shamim Akhtar and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Acting Director General Khial Zad Gul will leave for Nassau at 6am today from Islamabad.
Swimmer Kawais Behram Khan, who is a Canadian national, will join the contingent in Nassau. The contingent will reach Nassau on Sunday (tomorrow). A senior official of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) said that boxers had been denied visas while tennis players’ visa had been delayed. “If the issue was not resolved tomorrow then only swimmers would be part of the competitions,” the official said.
