Better public awareness of hygiene stressed
Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said the people could be prevented from contracting fatal diseases by increasing public awareness of the principles of hygiene.
He added that the relevant government departments and medical organisations could play an important role in that respect.
The president was talking to Dr. Muhammad Wasay, chairman of the World Federation of Neurology, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here. The President emphasised that all relevant institutions of society should play their role to create awareness among public about the principles of hygiene.
"In this respect, public awareness campaigns should be launched with the cooperation of professional organisations of doctors," he said. Expressing concern about the rapid increase in the number of patients suffering from stroke, the president said in order to handle the situation, it was necessary for the government and private sector to coordinate their efforts to gain the maximum from limited resources.
Expressing satisfaction on the observing of July 22 as World Brain Day, the president said it would go a long way in creating public awareness of stroke and ways and means to prevent and control it.
