PAT protest against killings on 15th
LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Thereek (PAT) on Tuesday decided to hold a protest march from the Punjab Assembly to the Chief Minister’s House on July 15. It was decided in a core committee meeting, addressed by PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri by telephone.
The march is aimed at inclusion of the Sharifs and their cronies in the Model Town case and decide the future course of action.Secretary-general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur told a press conference that on Jun 17, 2014, the Sharifs had ordered bloodbath in Model Town. He said the Baqar Najafi peport was proof and but was not released after three years. He said the report had names and addresses of the killers. He said the PAT had moved the Lahore High Court three years ago to get a copy of the report but to no avail.
He said the families of the victims wanted to know why their loved ones had been shot dead and why justice was being delayed. He said the prime minister should resign after the JIT report and face charges against him. “The JIT has found the whole Sharif family involved in financial wrongdoings for 35 years. Proof of their malpractices have come to the limelight and the PAT is of the belief that they should be ousted by force,” he added.
He said the PAT chairman was in Egypt and would reach Pakistan on a 12-hour notice if needed. He said they would invite all political parties to join the protest rally. He was flanked by PAT leaders GM Malik, Noorullah Siddiqui, Sajid Bhatti, Naeemudin Ch and Mazhar Alvi. Online
