Lt Gen Qayyum terms late Col Amjad a legend
Islamabad
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qayyum has termed late Col Amjad Hussain, father of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, a legend.
In a statement on Saturday, the senator said that Col Amjad Hussain was undoubtedly a legend who not only witnessed creation of our great country on 27th of Ramazan but also had the pride and privilege to contribute for its creation.
“In fact he attended those meetings in 1940 in which historic Pakistan resolution was passed and later new country's name was finalised. Being a member of Ideology of Pakistan Trust's governing council, I am also privy to Col Amjad Hussain's contributions, in post-independence phase, to enlighten masses about the core concept of ideology of Pakistan,” the senator said.
The PML-N leader said Col Amjad Hussain will undoubtedly be remembered for a long period not only for his contributions in the struggle for independence but also for the quality of education and grooming he imparted to his children like Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed who is our proud parliamentarian and always in the forefront to project our national cause and protect vital national interests rising above party affiliations; a breed which unfortunately is rather rare in the contemporary political milieu.
