Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Dr Farooq Sattar on Friday strongly condemned what he termed ‘anti-Pakistan activities’ of MQM–London leader Nadeem Nusrat, Geo News reported.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad, Sattar said the MQM–P had completely dissociated itself from Nadeem Nusrat, who in a recent tour of the United States met with lawmakers known to have an anti-Pakistan stance.

The MQM-P chief said Nusrat’s activities were a “continuation of the August 22 policies" and that the audio statements coming from MQM-L were not in favour of the Mohajir community in Pakistan. He accused the MQM-L leadership of misusing the name of the Mohajir community for their vested interests.

“Nadeem Nusrat’s activities are not in favour of Mohajirs, nor do they represent the aspirations of the Mohajir people. We will not allow Nadeem Nusrat to meet with anti-Pakistan lobbyists and conspire against our country, its people, and its army in the name of Mohajirs,” asserted Sattar.

“No Mohajir in his right state of mind can accept that any state institution was behind the murder of Amjad Sabri, the plane crash in which Junaid Jamshed died, or the unfortunate accident of Ahmedpur Sharqia," Sattar said in response to a recent controversial audio statement made by Nusrat.

“Concocted stories have nothing to do with reality,” the MQM-P leader stated, “Nusrat does not have the mandate of the people of Pakistan.”

Sattar's press conference came on the heels of Nusrat's recent meetings with US Congressmen Dana Rohrabacher and Ted Poe, who are known to have a track record of campaigning and lobbying against Pakistan.

Nusrat and Rohrabacher met for three hours and in a joint statement alleged that Pakistan was “sponsoring extremist groups as proxies in the region”.

The MQM-London confirmed Nusrat's meeting with Ted Poe at the Capitol Hill and his following speech against Pakistan. In a statement, the MQM-London accused Pakistan of “suppressing” Mohajirs and demanded cutting of US aid to Pakistan.

Ted Poe told the Congress that he was raising the issue because the “World Mohajir Congress has written a letter to the United States Congress”.

It is understood that the World Mohajir Council is linked with the MQM-London and its press releases have been issued from the MQM-London’s office and from the official MQM email addresses.
