PO commits suicide to avoid arrest

TOBA TEK SINGH: A proclaimed offender allegedly shot himself dead to avoid arrest during a police raid here on Monday. According to Gojra Sadr police, Imran Ali of Chak 430/JB was declared a proclaimed offender by a court as he was wanted in several criminal cases. On the day of the incident, the police raided his house to arrest him, but he fled and hid himself in a field. The police chased and besieged the field and asked him to surrender, but he allegedly shot himself dead to avoid arrest. Meanwhile, a missing man was found dead here on Monday. According to the City police, Noor Muhammad, a car showroom owner, went missing from his house a day before Eid. His body was recovered from the Gaushala graveyard on the Eid day. Sources said that Noor Muhammad had a dispute with his wife and was residing separately in a house near the graveyard. The police are waiting for the autopsy report for further investigation. The police have registered a case against unidentified killer(s). Also, police recovered the body of a five-year-old girl from Gogera Branch Canal near Moongi Bangla. The police have shifted the body to the Gojra THQ Hospital for autopsy.
