Lahore Police devise strict Eid security plan

LAHORE: Police issued foolproof security and traffic plans for the Lahore city in view of upcoming Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr.

The CCPO said that at least 15,000 cops would perform duties on the occasion.  He said that 20 SPs, 50 DSPs, 84 SHOs, 84 investigation in charges and lady police officers would perform duties during Eidul Fitr. He directed the officers concerned to conduct search operations and combing operations at the divisional level till Eidul Fitr besides snap checking and patrolling.

Foolproof security would be provided to more than 27,000 mosques and 200 open air places. Every person would be allowed entry to mosques after three layered physical security checks. All the SPs would supervise mock exercises and flag marches in their areas. Effective patrolling would be ensured around sensitive mosques and Imambargarhs and additional force would be deputed at parks and graveyards, he added.

SSP Admin Rana Ayaz Saleem said that all the force must be briefed on threats and their responsibilities. He said that the force deputed at pickets should keep vigil on suspected vehicles and motorcycles. Cameras installed at markets must be in working condition and effective monitoring must be ensured, he added.

The DIG Operations said that special monitoring teams had been formed to tackle wheelie, firing in the air and kite flying on the occasion of Eidul Fitr. He said that all the SPs must ensure search and combing operations in the city especially in Afghan localities.

The chief traffic officer (CTO), Lahore, said that City Traffic Police Lahore were utilising all possible resources to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.

He said that traffic awareness camps had been set up at different points in the city to facilitate citizens.

He said that 3,000 officers and officials, including two SPs, 12 DSPs, 116 inspectors and 121 lady wardens, would perform duty on Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr.
