Wet Eid forecast

LAHORE Partly cloudy weather continued to prevail in the city on Friday while Met Office predicted scattered rain during the next 24 hours.

Met officials said that monsoon, presently causing rains over central parts of India, was heading towards Pakistan. Monsoon currents will start to penetrate Pakistan on Monday/Tuesday and good rains/thundershowers are expected at a number of places in the country.

They predicted that rain/thunder showers with isolated heavy falls and strong gusty winds at a number of places in Punjab, Islamabad, KP, FATA, GB and Kashmir during Monday to Friday. They predicted rain/thundershowers with strong gusty winds at scattered places in Lower Sindh and Eastern Balochistan during Wednesday to Saturday. Met officials said that rain/thunder showers were also expected at scattered places in Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Upper KP and Kashmir during Eid Holidays (Monday to Wednesday).

Meanwhile, Met officials said that seasonal low lay over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas. They said on Friday weather remained hot and humid in most parts of the country while light rain/drizzle occurred at a few places in Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur divisions and Karachi.

Rainfall was only recorded at Bahawalpur, 1mm. Highest temperature was recorded at Nokkundi where mercury reached 47°C. In Lahore, highest temperature 37°C, minimum was 24°C and humidity level was 40 percent.
