One of the objectives of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) is to ensure the provision of hygienic, healthy and fit for human consumption food items, open and packed, to the people throughout the province. PFA officials are frequently conducting raids on hotels, restaurants, and manufacturing and suppliers outlets to see that the food items are being manufactured in neat and clean conditions. The officials also make sure that adulterated food items or rotten meat, fruit, etc., are not served to customers. These efforts of the PFA are yielding good results. Now, according to some media reports, the food authority has taken another commendable step in the right direction to supervise canteens functioning in the schools, colleges, universities, hospitals and other public places. .
The food authority has taken a commendable step. Many people eat food at hospitals, educational institutions, public and private offices and at open places in canteens and cafeterias without caring about the sanitary conditions. The authority should duly advertise this for the information of all companies running canteens and cafeterias.
