Imran says about to win Panama Test match
Says COAS has assured of making next polls transparent
ISLAMABAD: Referring to his political bout with the prime minister, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Thursday it appeared that he was going to win the Panama Test ‘series’, as it had entered its last stage and if the Qatari letter was to be rejected, the Sharif family case would be over.
Talking to journalists here at an Iftar-dinner he hosted for them, Imran announced to soon formally invite the Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed to join the PTI. He confirmed PPP Senator Zaheerud Din Babar Awan would become a part of his party on Friday.
He praised Sheikh Rasheed and said the way he fought against the political mafias and stood by his side in his fight against corrupt godfathers, who have shaken the very foundation of the country, was commendable.
The PTI chairman warned to launch a big movement after Eid, if the rulers tried to influence and make the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) controversial. About the PanamaLeaks case, he said that soon his party would emerge victorious as the Sharifs had failed to give their money trail.
Imran claimed his ex-spouse Jemima had provided documents related to the banking transactions with regard to the Banigala property and asked why the Sharifs had failed to produce banking transaction of the purchase of London apartments.
Regarding the Panama case, he said that the apex court had categorically stated if the Qatari prince did not come, his letter would be trashed. He warned the government not to create hurdles for the JIT.
Imran said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif knew he was going to lose the PanamaLeaks case, therefore, he was busy in bringing his daughter Maryam Nawaz as the next prime minister as he had no other option left with him.The PTI chairman said that once the PanamaLeaks case was decided, he was foreseeing 2017 as the election year. “Once the people have got rid of the rulers, fresh election is the only solution to resolve the issue because people want a change,” he claimed.
About the next general election, Imran said that Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa had assured him of making the next elections free and fair. “A soldier in uniform will stand guard inside while one will be on duty outside the polling station,” Imran noted.
To a question about the Saudi Arabia-Qatar standoff, he emphasised Pakistan should play the role of a mediator in the Middle East region and cautioned that it could be a Israeli ploy to entangle Pakistan in the issue.Asked about his marriage plan, Imran said that he had no plan to tie the knot till the next election.
