Ch Nisar orders probe into illegal housing society adjacent to Margalla Town
Islamabad: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has taken notice of development of an illegal housing society adjacent to the Margalla Town Phase-II.A senior official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) told ‘The News’ that the interior minister while taking notice of the issue, has directed taking of action against officials with whose connivance the illegal construction activity continued to take place for the last few years.
The owner of the land also constructed an approach road from his society to link it with the Margalla Town Phase-II. The concerned officials of CDA during the whole activity did not take action against the society.
The CDA official said in the light of report of a fact-finding committee, some employees of the environment wing have been pin-pointed and disciplinary action would be taken against them.The fact-finding inquiry identified three officials including Ranger Officer, Forest Officer and a Guard who did not report the illegal construction activity to their seniors.
The CDA team on directives of the Member Planning Asad Mehbood Kiani undertook an operation against to block the approach coming from the illegal housing society being developed by a retired inspector general of police of Islamabad.
“We are also going to get an FIR registered against management of the housing society for threatening our officials and creating hurdles in their work,” Asad Kiani said.It may be pointed out here that the incumbent management of the CDA headed by Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz has been under pressure to continue their action against illegal activities. In this connection, some influential are also trying to get the ban lifted on allotment of plots to the affected people of different housing schemes.
The CDA chairman recently rejected a summary moved by the Estate Wing for lifting ban on allotment of plots. The chairman directed the concerned officials to re-submit summary with SoPs in order to block acceptance of fake claims for compensation.
